ARTIST STATEMENT

For as long as I can remember, I have appreciated the psychological aspects of art over time, and how just a single piece of artwork can inspire different thoughts and emotions from the initial reaction to a continuous flow of change, due to the viewer’s internal and external circumstances. 

My work compels me to use color and line to pull the viewer around the painting so that it draws us to dive deep into a flat surface. Oftentimes, I enjoy putting contrasting tones together in an unblended alternation of warm and cold colors, which allows me to display a vision through which I can travel to a mindset of the past, and create a new mindset for the future.  

Often depicted in many of my pieces is the journey of life and the resiliency one must have in navigating it. Even in the darkest of times, there can be light that sustains us. Despite hardships that fall upon us, there is recovery, and the possibility of flourishing and overcoming life’s obstacles for a greater outcome.

Rather than focus on certain individuals, I consider myself a universal artist. I strive to speak to you as a unique person and meet you where you are on life’s path, and that is always changing.
